Are Danish Public Institutions harnessing the full potential of Web 2.0?
Not quite, according to Rasmus Bech Hansen. The Managing Director of Kontrapunkt Online, was recently featured in DJØF Magazine, making the argument that Danish Public Institutions could benefit more from Web 2.0. How? By using online mediums of communication to offer citizens better services.
“(Public Institutions could) offer a web solution to find parking lots in the cities like in San Fransisco, or like Barack Obama has done with the project, “The Citizen Briefing Book”, use the web to harness ideas from citizens for public improvements,” says Rasmus Bech Hansen.
In the article, Rasmus Bech Hansen argues that better public services drive citizens online in numbers that are crucial for the facilitation of constructive dialogue. Why? Because democratic discussions on vital communal areas – online as well as offline – ultimately will make for a better society.
